Cut in through-traffic in Vijfheerenlanden thanks to camera enforcement

Through-traffic in the Amaliastein neighborhood of Vianen, Vijfheerenlanden, has decreased by approximately 60%, according to BN DeStem. What once caused congestion, unsafe crossings, and limited accessibility is now effectively under control through smart camera enforcement.

In 2024, the municipality implemented evening rush-hour access restrictions. Using Brickyard’s camera enforcement system, license plates are automatically checked, allowing only residents, business owners, and registered visitors to pass. Unauthorized vehicles receive fines automatically via the Central Judicial Collection Agency.

“In Vijfheerenlanden, we see again how technology enhances livability: thanks to our ANPR enforcement solution, through-traffic has dropped by over 60%. A clear example of how smart enforcement actually changes behavior,” said Stanley de Rotte, Brickyard Account Manager.

Where previously more than a thousand vehicles per hour passed through the neighborhood, that number is now around 400. Residents immediately notice the difference: the area is calmer, safer, and more accessible.

Alderman Joop van Montfoort (Mobility) and project leader Stephan Schrijvers of the municipality are satisfied: what began as a local approach to through-traffic is now seen as a model project for other municipalities.

At Brickyard, we are proud that our technology contributes to projects where livability, safety, and innovation come together.
