"I can imagine that you can soon see the available free parking spaces right on your smartphone," said Dutch minister of traffic Mrs. Schultz van Haegen.

This is possible with the SmartApp for Android and iOS. It makes occupation information from the SmartEye sensors accessible for anyone with a smartphone. Parkers can see in real-time how many on street parking spaces are available and what the current parking fees are. With a simple click of a button the route to the parking location is planned; finding a free parking space was never so easy.
In London, the deployment of the SmartEye sensors in combination with the SmartApp led to a reduction of search traffic of up to 40% with a corresponding reduction of harmful emissions. In addition, the parking space utilization rate is significantly higher, available parking outside the normal traffic routes are now also found.
The pilot project with SmartEye sensors and the smartphone SmartApp in London yielded two prestigious awards for Westminster council and supplier Smart Parking; the Parking Technology Award at the 2014 British Parking Awards and at the 2014 Real IT Award the project won in the category Innovation in Technology.
The SmartApp from Smart Parking can be downloaded at the Google Play Store and at the Apple Appstore. Click on one of the links to download the app.
The occupancy data is also made available via the Parkopedia website and their mobile app Parkright.
