Camera Enforcement

The purpose of camera enforcement is to change the behaviour of road users in order to improve the quality of life in the municipality. Without using on-street enforcers or physical obstacles, the system sees all offenders 24/7. Using the web application, an enforcer can check and fine the offenders afterwards from his/her desk. An efficient, effective, and safe solution for everyone.

Camera enforcement is the least expensive, most efficient way to enforce an access control. Think about: cut-through traffic, environmental zones, bus lanes, and car-free zones. This can all be solved with camera enforcement by Brickyard.

Practical applications of camera enforcement

Access control

Traffic is increasing on the roads and road users are becoming creative in their routes, which sometimes isn’t desirable. Enforcing with license plate cameras helps with access control:

  • Quality of life returns on currently congested roads
  • Local traffic and residents will not be affected by the cameras
  • The road stays in good condtion
  • Can be set at desired times or 24 hours a day, whatever suits the needs of the municipality

Mopeds

Nuisance from mopeds can be limited to increase the quality of life on street and in the city centre. This can be done 24/7, without having an enforcer at site, by using camera enforcement:

  • Effective against mopeds, as opposed to physical closure like bollards
  • Clear change of behaviour after a short period of time
  • Great public satisfaction with this method of enforcement
  • Dealing with offenses from a desk

Bus lanes

Selective access for public transport can be public-friendly, whilst maintaining the image of an open street. Only allowing public transport vehicles on these lanes enhances the quality of public transport.

  • Public-friendly system
  • Variable selective access where necessary
  • Emergency services can seamlessly use the lanes
  • Exemptions can be corrected afterwards

Area closure

Vulnerable areas or those with intensive pedestrian use can easily be turned into low-traffic zones using license plate camera enforcement. This solution offers multiple advantages:

  • Closing the city in a safe way, without the risk of collision
  • Guaranteed access for emergency services
  • 24/7 enforcement without using enforcers on-site
  • Cars with exemptions can always pass

End-to-end assistance

With its well-coordinated, fast and silent implementation, Brickyard is an excellent partner for maintaining and improving the quality of life in municipalities. We are happy to advise and facilitate the camera location, wireless connections, and the installation process. Our many years of experience made us into the specialists we are today.

But that is not everything we have to offer. We could even take care of handling the warnings and fining. And with periodic reports we help to keep all stakeholders informed in the right way.

Management and reporting

The camera enforcement is managed in the ‘Brickyard backoffice’ system. The ‘observation overview’ only highlights potential offenders, here an enforcer can assess the findings. After confirming the offense, the enforcer prepares the export of the fines.

End users – such as residents and retailers – can arrange their own exemptions, and those of their visitors, in an online management environment. By combining data into valuable management information, Brickyard creates the base for all mobility solutions.

Countless applications

In accordance with the national mobility rules, Brickyard Camera Enforcement is used in Dutch cities like Delft, where it blocks unwanted traffic from the historic city centre; in Leeuwarden it is used to control a bus lane; and in Amsterdam where mopeds are blocked under the iconic ‘Rijksmuseum’. The implementation time is short and the environment is not affected by the set-up. As a result, the system is operational within a short amount of time in order to change the behaviour of road users and thereby increase the quality of life.
